As we say here in the UK, “The cream always rises to the top”. That is the case once again with producer extraordinaire – Idealism.
Having just released a superb EP titled “Hiraeth” which essentially means “[…] a deep, wishful, nostalgic sense of longing for home; a yearning grief for people and things long gone” – the producer has captivated the soul and imagination of its listeners with calm, tranquil, jazzy, hip-hop beats, as the long sighted artist gears up for a promising and fruitful year!
Opening up with “Ikigai”, the stage is set for what’s to come – a relaxing journey filled with ambient energy, piano sounds, boom-bap drums and amazing song composing. Another thing that stands out on this brilliantly produced EP is the fact all of its instruments were programmed and played by Idealism, as the producer skipped the usual sampling process on this one, to create a more organic, textured and boundless sound.
10 songs deep, there’s a few stand out tracks in the EP, from “Ikigai” to the Flying Lotus reminiscent “Interstellar Brownies”, followed by the emotionally charged “Phosphenes” and “Ilia’s Dream” – but all in all, each song flows ethereally from one to the next – making “Hiraeth” a wonderful and seamless experience. Idealism gets nothing but love from us here at Dope Approach and ”Hiraeth” really is the truth! Don’t believe me? Just listen to it below and we’ll let you be the judge.
