We’re a bit late on this one but “Ground Floor” is the smash EP by the Chicago, Illinois, spitter Ess Jones who released it back in December 2015.
Now, we’ve heard and reviewed a lot of rappers in the past but few are as raw and energetic as Ess is throughout this unbelievable body of work! Exhilarating from the get go, the EP starts off with crazy energy and it doesn’t really lose any momentum, at any point, whatsoever.
A grimey release which enlists the help of fellow rappers Jah Safe and G Hendrix as well as Della, who each bring something of their own to the table, adding depth to the EP’s dynamic. Compared to his more recent work “Red Lobster”, Ground Floor is definitely where it’s at. Its overall feel and traction is legit too – Ess comes off as genuinely hard, the beat selection is on point and the flows are super dope as well – we’d go as far as saying, he’s a sharp combination of Three Six Mafia’s Juicy J and ATL’s very own Ludacris.
The message in the EP is very clear – “Go get you yours!” – as Ess and his guests execute and narrate in style what the Chicago streets are up to!
If you’re a fan of rowdy rap music, that ride or die, hustle music, then Ess is definitely your man and shouldn’t be slept on. Standing tall for Chi Town, the rapper delivers with finesse and doesn’t disappoint in this EP.
We’re glad that we’ve been introduced to this beast of a rapper, who otherwise might have gone unnoticed his whole career…
Keep up the good work and salute to the God Mc!
